Zeitgeist?? # 35, # 36 And # 37 Random Musings For The Day

Is today's "shout out to be heard" world not really for introverts and shrinking wall flowers  ???......

Is a pretty face a prerequisite for a singer or can the voice outshine everything else???
A post on Susan Boyle and her acidic reception on Britain's got Talent on a blog I visited got me thinking.....

Does character assault and bullying start at kindergarten??

In independent music, as well as certain genres it's not a prerequisite. However for pop music, it pretty much is. Every so often a Susan Boyle will temporarily break down the barriers, but that light quickly fades in the eyes of a shallow public.

Don't know about the rest, but bullying does start at kindergarden. And somehow the care takers there are responsible.

And sometimes I also wonder that do good looking people make good singers, or fame brings resources to them to make them beautiful.

These are thought-provoking questions, Rek. I think the only question that gets a "no" is the second. I wonder if Susan would've made it big in the US, though.
Congratulations on finisihing the A-Z challenge! PHEW.

good looks aren't prerequisite to be good singer.. but important for kick start of career.. audience(much of it) isn't cared about music of tunes.. just how cool it looks to be(singer and song)

and about bullying.. yes i think it starts in kindergarten or even earlier... behavior of child against it is what brings about the whole future of ways he would deal with problems.. just my opinion..

Totally agree with you, I was watching that show 2 years ago and its true how the judges had this perception when she walked in... and the rest is history she has become so successful now ..

and YES it starts at kindergarten, I know .. scary a lot depends on the situation at home too, ..

I don't really care what people look like so much. I think society puts way to much stock in looks.

Thanks for taking the test, Rek! You did pretty well, actually, and you're a brave woman. (The question you passed on was unfair -based on a US commercial. My fault.)
Be well. xo Robyn

I think bullying starts before kindergarten, it starts at home...

Good questions.

Bullying is innate. We are born with meanness. It's the nature of the human blank slate that we are. It is the teaching of values and the lavishing of love that trains us away from the potential for be a cruel individual. No training, and cruelty will flourish.

Unfortunately, I think that "first impressions" mean a lot in the musical world. It's unfortunate, but a lot of people are cast aside because of how they look in terms of their future success. Why? It's a good question. But I think that view is why society also has a problem with bullying. I think it does start at a young age, but correcting it and behavior needs to start then too.
